Everybody has heard of predatory lending, but did you know about predatory publishing? Take a look.
Predatory practices have been around for a long, long, long time in fiction writing. Companies like Author Solutions, Incorporated are famous, in a dark way, for coming up with new fronts and imprints to change their names. I’ve heard a lot of horror stories out of ASI.

I’m not surprised that predators of this kind are active in the academic field too, though I imagine their methods are a little different.
